Lawmakers: Stop your efforts to undercut voter turnout in Pennsylvania

After former President Trump’s loss in Pennsylvania in November, state Republican lawmakers instantly began looking for ways to roll back Pennsylvanians’ right to vote and make it even harder to cast a ballot.
Their first target? Our voter registration system. They’re trying to limit the amount of time Pennsylvanians have to register to vote, attempting to ensure that we never again see the record levels of voter enthusiasm and turnout we saw in November.
It just doesn’t make sense: there’s no real reason to give voters LESS time to register, which would make it harder and less convenient to vote. This cutback on voting access is both a solution in search of a problem and an indefensible voter suppression tactic -- and it can’t go into effect.
Make your voice heard: the Pennsylvania Legislature needs to know that Pennsylvanians oppose these shameless, undemocratic efforts to weaken our voter registration system.

Our Legislature shouldn’t be in the business of putting up barriers and hurdles to voting. Instead, they should be focused on eliminating voter suppression and making it easier to vote in our state, regardless of whether the election went their way. Their efforts to cut back on Pennsylvania’s voter registration period and make it less convenient to vote are no more than indefensible voter suppression tactics, and they must stop promoting them immediately.
