Sign - Tell Congress We Need Legalization NOW!

Members of Congress

On September 5th, Trump rescinded DACA. It is an attack on the immigrant community and this decision aims to discourage and instill fear in undocumented youth. Do not let Trump and his administration dictate your life, and the life of your family, friends, co-workers and broader community.

Today, we start the battle to find a permanent path to legalization for 800,000 people that were under DACA, however, let’s not forget the broader community. We cannot afford to succumb in division anymore, if we are going to win battles, we all must work together. The focus of action moving forward is no longer Trump, it is now directed towards Congress, for decades both parties, Republicans and Democrats, have been using the immigrant community as pawns and bargaining chips.

Congress has until March 2018 to decide the fate of hundreds of thousands of people, therefore we must act NOW in large numbers. We have a deadline, do not wait to rise up, YOU and your communities cannot afford to stand around and do nothing while we wait.

NOT ANYMORE. We urge you to sign this petition, share with your family and friends, share it on public and privates groups, let Congress know that you are ready to take action, and that you will take action to defend and protect former DACA recipients and their families.

We will be updating this petition page and providing you with updates.

*Meanwhile you should know:

1) NO more Initial DACAs as of TODAY. If you never applied for DACA and you want to obtain one, you will no longer be able to. If you didn’t renew, and it has been a year or more than a year, you cannot obtain DACA again.

2) PENDING Initial DACAs will be reviewed, and they will determine their eligibility. So, if you sent your Initial DACA application early last week, there is a HIGH chance of still obtaining DACA for two years. You just won’t be able to renew.

3) Applications for DACA Renewals sent early last week for example will be processed if everything is ok.

4) If your DACA expires between September 5, 2017 and March 5th 2018, you CAN renew, you have before October 5th, 2017 to submit those applications.
*Note: If you are eligible to submit this DACA renewal, then they must receive it before October 5th, 2017. This is not the same as it being postmarked that same date. Make sure you plan on sending it in ahead of time.

5) You will be able to work and be deferred under DACA until it expires. This means that they won’t look for you to deport you and you will be able to keep working until it expires.

*What does this mean for Advance Parole:

1) You cannot apply for Advance Parole anymore.

2) If you have a valid Advance Parole RIGHT NOW, and you have the documents already, according to the memo, then it is still valid. This is a risk if you want to travel, but ultimately, it is up to your discretion - your life and your decision.

3) If you have a PENDING Advance Parole documents they will DENY your Advance Parole BUT they will return your money back. ONLY for Advance Parole NOT DACA.

4) FIGHT BACK!

Remember! We only have SIX(6) months to pressure Congress to create change, don’t waste time!

*What is DACA? - Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a kind of administrative relief from deportation. The purpose of DACA is to protect eligible immigrant youth who came to the United States when they were children from deportation. DACA gives young undocumented immigrants: 1) protection from deportation, and 2) a work permit. The program expires after two years, subject to renewal.

*The Law Office of Attorney Rebecca Medina provided us with the summary of important details for DACA beneficiaries to be aware of as of the most recent announcements surrounding DACA.

Please join us by signing the petition.

*Your information will not be shared. We will reach out to you with updates and similar calls to actions as we continue to advocate for social justice. Thank you

To Congress,

We demand that Congress treat and address former DACA Recipients and the Immigrant Community with the respect that they so rightfully deserve. We will no longer tolerate these attacks on our immigrant community.

Immigrants are the backbone of this nation, and this includes undocumented immigrants. We will no longer tolerate the lack of Legislative action in regards to Congress. It is time to introduce, review, discuss and vote for an inclusive path to Citizenship for the Undocumented Youth.

We are not bargaining chips, we are not political chess pieces. We are humans beings that deserve respect. You will not treat us like strategic pawns.

We demand that you work with us to find a humane path to Citizenship that benefits former DACA recipients and the broader community. We are the community affected by Trump and his administration to rescind DACA and we want to be part of the Legislative process.

We demand that you stop using us as scapegoats. Immigrants are valuable members of society, we deserve dignity and respect as working members and as human beings.
