Let People Use The Right Bathroom

Speaker Mike Johnson

Over the past few weeks, Republican member of Congress Nancy Mace has launched a full-scale harassment campaign against the first openly-trans member of Congress, Sarah McBride.

This behavior is not only despicable, but it is utterly unbecoming of a member of Congress who should be focusing on improving the lives of their constituents and the American public – not blasting social media with hateful and offensive rhetoric.

Will you take a moment to demand Speaker Mike Johnson enforce standards of civility, stop this harassment campaign, and drop the Capitol Hill Bathroom Bill?

Dear Speaker Johnson,

A member of the United States Congress has spent the better part of two weeks engaged in a full-scale harassment campaign against an incoming member of Congress – including hundreds of hateful social media comments, regressive rhetoric, and extreme accusations that we have seen escalate in the past.

As the Speaker of the House, it is your duty to ensure a level of decorum in Congress that allows ALL members to do their jobs. Therefore, it is your obligation to intervene and stop this harassment campaign, and encourage all members of Congress to get back to doing work that improves the lives of the American people – not denigrating an extreme minority of the members and staff on Capitol Hill.

As an American citizen, I demand that you reign in the hateful behavior of Rep. Nancy Mace and stop the progression of this Capitol Hill Bathroom Bill.

Thank you,
