You have a chance to let the Secretary of the Army for Civil Works know that ALL of Jackson’s flooding needs to be addressed, whether it is right along the Pearl River or along the Creeks that drain into the river. So many parts of Jackson have frequent flash flooding that isn’t always related to Pearl River floods from the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
This will be Jackson’s $300 million opportunity to address Pearl River and Creek flooding. The Army Corps of Engineers need to help the most people along the river and the creeks while causing the least amount of damage to wetlands, and wildlife habitat. The Alternative Combination Plan (CTO) can do this.

Add your signature to the petition to request that Michael Connor make the best decision for the constituents of JXN to prevent needless flooding in South & West areas.

On behalf of Jackson, MS residents and stakeholders below,

We urgently request that Secretary Connor’s Pearl River Federal Flood Risk Management, (One Lake), decision favor the nonstructural CTO combination alternative. Which would not create a lake or new weir and would cause the least environmental damage in addressing Jackson’s flooding.

- The Army Corps of Engineers will make a decision that will affect Black and Brown communities living near the Pearl River’s tributary Creeks [Eubanks, Lynch creeks, Town Creek, Purple Creek] that provide drainage for Jackson.
A flood risk management solution that doesn’t address the Creeks will be a lost opportunity to solve flooding for the greatest number of Jackson residents.
