We are writing to you in support of Maximus workers who went on strike to demand:
1. Protection from unfair layoffs, including two months’ notice, severance pay, and giving laid-off workers first priority for other positions and re-hiring
2. Living wages of $25 an hour, in line with other federal call center workers
3. Real, improved career advancement opportunities for frontline workers, including clear career pathways with support and training
It is also upsetting to hear that Maximus has been interfering with workers’ rights to form a union.
We hope you will see the bold actions of Maximus workers as an opportunity to discuss the important workplace policies at Maximus that need changing and support their demands.
As a multi-billion dollar employer, and a Federal contractor, we expect Maximus to respect its employees’ right to strike and refrain from any unlawful retaliation. We will be watching carefully to make sure you do not violate federal laws as they return to work.
