Support Legislation to Create More Homes in Brookline

Attention: Brookline Town Meeting Members

Brookline is facing a dire housing shortage that is driving up both rents and purchase prices. This November, Brookline's Town Meeting, our town's legislative body of 255 elected representatives, will consider several new pieces of legislation known as Warrant Articles that can increase housing supply without making drastic changes to our neighborhoods.

Help us pass this legislation by letting YOUR Town Meeting Members know you support creating more homes in Brookline!

Sign our petition and we'll deliver it to your elected representatives on Town Meeting.

We support the following legislation:

  • Warrant Article 9: This will enable two-family homes to add a third home within the existing building.
  • Warrant Article 8: This will allow owners of small property lots to obtain a special permit to add another home.
  • Warrant Article 15: This will bring Brookline's Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) by-law into compliance with the Commonwealth of MA's new ADU requirements.

All three Warrant Articles will make it possible for property owners to create more homes here in Brookline.

Dear Town Meeting Members for my precinct,

I urge you to vote in favor of Warrant Articles 8, 9, and 15 to create more housing here in Brookline. High rents and home prices are driving neighbors out of our community, causing financial instability, and making our community a less diverse, vibrant, and desirable place to live.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
