Naples Manor Street Name Change

Collier County Board of Commissioners: Donna Fiala; Andy Solis; Burt L. Saunders; Penny Taylor; William L. McDaniel, Jr.

Naples Manor

Whereas, the Confederacy fought in and lost the Civil War, a war that began over the enslavement of Black people;

Whereas, Civil War symbols preserve Confederacy ideals, such as white supremacy;

Whereas, Naples Manor streets and avenues are named after the Confederate States, in contrast with the current resident demographics, which are primarily People of Color;

Whereas, it was a mistake for streets to be named after relics that represent a system supported by slavery;

THEREFORE, WE THE PEOPLE demand all fees and costs associated with the street name changes* to Confederate Drive and Dixie Drive in Naples Manor to be waived.

*Street name alternatives to be provided
