Eilt! Deine Stimme für die Natur

Die Ereignisse zum Gesetz zur Rettung der Natur überschlagen sich! Nach einer langen Blockade im Umweltrat droht es nun für immer in den Schubladen zu verstauben - dabei geht das Artensterben vor unserer Haustür ungebremst weiter. Ob Schmetterlinge oder Waldsterben, der Natur geht es nicht gut. Über 80 Prozent der geschützten Ökosysteme in Europa sind in einem schlechten Zustand, ein Fünftel der europäischen Arten sind vom Aussterben bedroht.

Noch unter dem belgischen Ministerpräsident Alexander de Croo wurde die ausgehandelte Einigung zum Gesetz lobbyiert. Eine Mehrheit im Umweltrat war damit unmöglich. Mittlerweile ist De Croo nach der Europawahl zurückgetreten und jetzt droht das zu folgen, was viele immer befürchtet haben: An Europas Green Deal wird die Axt angesetzt.

Rechtsradikale und ihr Hass gegen Klima- und Umweltgesetze haben bei der Europawahl Mandate dazu gewonnen. Der Rechtsruck bei den Konservativen, aber auch die Stimmungslage in den EU-Ländern kommt noch hinzu. Europas Green Deal droht damit wirklich abgewickelt zu werden - und das erste Opfer könnte das Gesetz zur Rettung der Natur sein.

Im zuständigen Umweltrat fehlt noch immer die qualifizierte Mehrheit, und die nächste Sitzung findet schon am kommenden Montag statt. Wollen wir das Gesetz retten und das Arten-Armageddon vor unserer Haustür stoppen, brauchen wir jetzt rasch so viele Stimmen wir nur möglich. Es eilt also!

Was steht im Gesetz?

✅ Der Natur wird wieder Raum gegeben. Denn bis 2030 sollen 20 Prozent der Land- und Seeflächen der EU renaturiert werden

✅ Flüsse werden von Barrieren befreit. Ziel sind 25.000 Kilometer frei fließende Flüsse

✅ Städte werden durch Parks, Bäume & Co. auf die Folgen der Klimakrise vorbereitet. Es darf es keinen Nettoverlust von Stadtgrün geben.

Das sind nur drei Punkte von etlichen weiteren, die sich in diesem Gesetz wiederfinden und die angesichts der dramatischen ökologischen Lage notwendig sind.

Deshalb gilt: Wir fordern die Staats- und Regierungschef*innen der Europäischen Union auf: Übernehmen Sie Verantwortung im Sinne der europäischen Demokratie und handeln Sie jetzt! Sorgen Sie dafür, dass das vom Europäischen Parlament beschlossene Gesetz zur Rettung der Natur ins Leben gerufen wird. Nur so stoppen wir das Artensterben vor unserer Haustür und erhalten unsere Lebensgrundlagen.

Urgent! Your voice for nature!

The events surrounding the law to save nature are coming thick and fast! After a long blockade in the Environment Council, it now threatens to gather dust in the drawers forever - yet the extinction of species on our doorstep continues unabated. Whether butterflies or dying forests, nature is not doing well. Over 80 percent of protected ecosystems in Europe are in a poor state and a fifth of European species are threatened with extinction.

The negotiated agreement was lobbied into law under Belgian Prime Minister Alexander de Croo. A majority in the Environment Council was therefore impossible. De Croo has since resigned after the European elections and now what many feared would happen is looming: Europe's Green Deal is being axed.

Right-wing extremists and their hatred of climate and environmental laws have gained seats in the European elections. The shift to the right among the conservatives, but also the mood in the EU countries, is adding to this. Europe's Green Deal is in real danger of being unwound - and the first victim could be the law to save nature.

The Environment Council still lacks a qualified majority, and the next meeting will take place next Monday. If we want to save the law and stop the species armageddon on our doorstep, we need as many votes as possible as quickly as possible. So it's urgent!

Please support this petition, because there is no alternative to the law given the impending ecological collapse.

What does the law say?

✅ Nature will be given space again. Because 20 per cent of the EU's land and sea areas are to be renaturalised by 2030

✅ Rivers will be freed from barriers. The goal is 25,000 kilometers of free-flowing rivers

✅ Cities are prepared for the consequences of the climate crisis with parks, trees, etc. There must be no net loss of urban greenery.

These are just three of many other points that are reflected in this law and are necessary given the dramatic ecological situation.

We therefore call on the heads of state and government of the European Union: Take responsibility in the interests of European democracy and act now! Ensure that the law passed by the European Parliament to save nature is brought to life. This is the only way to stop the extinction of species on our doorstep and preserve our livelihoods.
