New Yorkers: Make Polluters Pay!

Governor Kathy Hochul

Climate change has already caused extraordinary harm in New York. Last summer alone, wildfire smoke blanketed skies and record flooding filled the city subways.

The New York Public Interest Research Group put out a report detailing the need for $1.8 billion taxpayer dollars a year for climate projects in New York City.

Climate crises are wreaking havoc. Lawmakers in New York want fossil fuel companies to pay for the cost of damages. New legislation in the state, called “Climate Change Superfund Act,” would charge Big Oil companies a one-time fee based on their historic emissions.

Big Oil has made a mess in New York. They should be held accountable for the damages they have caused our neighbors, businesses, and infrastructure . I support a policy in New York that would require the fossil fuel companies most responsible for climate destruction to pay for the damage they caused here.
