No Drilling Where We're Living! Sign the petition: Urge Los Angeles lawmakers to enact a 2500ft Human Health & Safety Buffer Now!

Los Angeles City Council, Mayor Eric Garcetti, City Attorney Mike Feuer and the entire LA City government

While Los Angeles aims to be a national and world leader on environmental issues, there are very few cities in the world with so many active oil wells dangerously close to where people live, work, learn and play. In neighborhoods like Wilmington and South Los Angeles — low-income communities of color already overburdened by pollution from freeways and other dirty industries — children and families experience disproportionately high rates of asthma and suffer from severe nosebleeds, headaches, reproductive harm, and headaches associated with a long list of toxic chemicals used in oil extraction. Oil drilling is simply incompatible with healthy neighborhoods and a sustainable future for our city.

STAND-LA, a coalition led by frontline communities with support from close to 80 community, faith-based, environmental, public health, and labor organizations across Los Angeles, has presented our city with a choice for a different present and future. We support STAND-LA and hope you will, too.

Sign the petition: Demand Los Angeles lawmakers ensure a safe and healthy community for its residents.

We demand the Los Angeles City Council, Mayor Eric Garcetti, City Attorney Mike Feuer and the entire LA City government:

- Move to enact as quickly as possible a 2500-human health and safety buffer ordinance that would phase out oil and gas production to homes and schools within five years.

- Pursue a workforce development and economic revitalization program that benefits impacted workers, cleans up polluted neighborhoods, and sets LA on a course toward a family-supporting, health-promoting ecologically sustainable economy of tomorrow.
