No More Rate Hikes! Tell CMP and Versant Enough is Enough

Central Maine Power and Versant Power

On January 1, 2023, CMP's "standard offer" rates went up 49% and Versant's increased 41%. If that isn't bad enough: Both CMP and Versant are demanding another 30% increase this fall. These rate increases need to stop!

Last year, rates went up faster in Maine than in any other state. Hardworking Mainers are being squeezed by inflation and higher costs of living right now more than ever. Meanwhile, each year, CMP sends nearly $200 million in profits to out-of-state shareholders.

These constant rate increases from our electric companies are just tone deaf.

And as of today, electricity rates in Maine’s 97 towns served by consumer-owned utilities are now LESS THAN HALF the rates the rest of us pay to CMP or Versant. In most other US states, nonprofit utilities serve the largest service areas — and average rates are also half what we pay here. Can you believe it?

Make your voice heard! Tell CMP and Versant that enough is enough.
