We call on Meredith Levien (CEO), AG Sulzberger (Publisher), and managers of The New York Times to agree to contract terms that protect trans and gender-nonconforming workers in the NYT Tech Guild union.

More than 500 of the Tech Guild's members have signed a letter demanding a contract that robustly and unambiguously defends trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming workers’ rights to a safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace.

In the face of unprecedented legislative attacks on trans and gender-nonconforming people across the country, the Tech Guild is fighting for concrete support and protection for its members. Most of these demands, such as support for name changes and preferred names, have already been brought to contract negotiations. Management largely rejected these proposals without offering any alternatives.

Many trans, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming workers have voiced concerns about their experiences working at The New York Times. The Tech Guild is collectively raising these concerns and demanding a collective bargaining agreement with specific enforceable protections that current policies and laws do not address.

You can read the full list of demands here.

Join us in telling CEO Meredith Levien: meet the Times Tech Guild in good faith at the bargaining table so that together we can provide contractual support and protection for Trans* employees.
