OPPOSE so-called “right-to-work” Ordinance for Sierra County

We, the below signers, who reside in Sierra County, are asking that the Sierra County Commission OPPOSE the so-called “right-to-work” ordinance that was formally published on Tuesday June 12, 2018. So-called “right-to-work” does not boost economic growth and will actually lead to lower wages for all workers, will make our jobs less safe, and will have a negative impact on our community.

So-called “right-to-work” is not being pushed by local residents but by out of state billionaires and CEO’s with the goal to destroy collective bargaining rights, proven to lower wages and benefits, and in-turn, hurt our community.

Hector Balderas, New Mexico Attorney General, wrote in a January 18th opinion that the proposed Sandoval County ordinance would likely be illegal, create confusion in local and state government procurement, and seriously harm local law enforcement’s crime-fighting capacity.

So-called “right-to-work” is wrong for Sierra County and wrong for the State of New Mexico. We ask that you please oppose this ordinance and vote NO. Thank you.
