Outrageous: Pennsylvania GOP trying to overrule voters

Pennsylvania's congressional delegation

Rather than accepting the results of the state's election, some members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly have launched an egregious attack on our democracy -- attempting to toss out the millions of ballots that Pennsylvanians cast this year.

Let’s be clear: this shameful action has no chance of overturning the results of the presidential election.

Pennsylvania law states that the popular vote determines who receives the state's electors. Pennsylvanians cast their ballots in record numbers, those ballots were counted -- and a winner has been declared.

But make no mistake -- this will fuel the fire of Trump’s repeated attempts to undermine the public’s trust in our democratic systems. And worse yet, state legislators deciding they can overrule an election because they don’t like the results would go against the very foundation of our democracy.

It’s time for us to move forward together after this divisive election -- not point fingers and spread baseless conspiracy theories that impugn the integrity of our elections. Officials in Pennsylvania did their job and ran a free, secure, and accessible election.

And, millions of voters did their jobs too -- braving a nationwide pandemic, disinformation campaigns, and restrictive voting laws to make their voices heard.

That's why Pennsylvania's members of Congress -- who will oversee the state's Electoral College vote -- must immediately reject and condemn this dangerous partisan effort. If you agree, add your name now.

Over 50 Republicans in Pennsylvania’s state legislature just sent a letter officially requesting that their state’s 20 electoral votes for President-elect Biden be thrown out.

The American people will not stand for this brazen attempt to overrule the clear will of the voters -- based on groundless claims from President Trump and his associates. Pennsylvania's congressional delegation must immediately reject and condemn this dangerous partisan effort.
