Pass County Executive Elrich's Proposed Revenue Enhancement Measure
Montgomery County Council
Our communities and schools are in crisis. Decades of underfunding have made it impossible to provide the level of services Montgomery County residents deserve and expect. This underfunding has had dire effects on our schools and our students. Critical staffing shortages, overcrowded classrooms, and crumbling school buildings all mean that we are failing to meet the ever-increasing needs of our children. Montgomery County is no longer a competitive hiring market for recruiting and retaining educators, and as we know, our property values are tied to the excellence of our school system.
We have an opportunity to change course by reinvesting in our schools, our children and our county’s future. The County Executive’s budget provides the critical funding necessary to improve community access to the best educators, the best curriculum, and quality school environments. Without this additional funding, things will get worse in a time when our county should be prosperous and thriving.
We must not allow our County Council Members to listen to those who, through shortsighted greed, would choose to starve our schools and rob our children of a chance for an excellent education.

This education-only revenue enhancement will ensure that our communities thrive, and that MCPS can recruit and retain more psychologists, social workers, special and general education educators, school support personnel, and administrators. Our children deserve the best opportunity to be whole, and to do that they need complete school systems that are consistently invested in.
Join us: we are united for our kids, communities, and our future.
