Petition for Community Benefits from South Works Quantum Campus

Southeast Chicago residents stand united to demand:

Slow the process down

Governor Pritzker had plans for this project for over 4 years. Groundbreaking is supposed to start in winter 2025. Why rush from announcement to groundbreaking in only a few months?

We call on Governor Pritzker to meet with our community in good faith to ensure community benefits prioritized by community members before beginning construction.

Remediate toxic contaminants on location, underground, in waterways, incl. heavy metals, diesel

Continued access to & improved amenities for the lakefront, neighboring parks, athletic facilities

Voluntary health testing for residents to assess toxic load

Guarantee jobs and education for our community

Create jobs pipeline for Southeast residents throughout development process: competitive jobs with living or prevailing wages for local neighborhood residents before, during, & after construction

Invest in our neighborhood schools and education of southeast side students to train for next generation jobs

Provide job training, paid internships for students, and pathway to careers for local residents

Development without displacement

Offer tax relief for homeowners and long-term residents

Provide and maintain affordable housing for current residents
