Petition: Sen. Capito, Hold a Town Hall Before You Cut Health Care for 166,700 West Virginians

Senator Shelley Moore Capito

According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, The House Republican bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act would do devastating things for the country:

1. 24 million families would lose coverage.

2. Premiums would continue to rise.

3. Working class seniors would see their rates rise by as much as $13,000/year.

The situation is especially harrowing for low-income people and seniors - which means that this bill will hit us especially hard in West Virginia.

According to the most recent estimates, the bill would cost 166,700 West Virginians of their health care, including 36,200 children.

Meanwhile, Senator Capito has not held a single open public meeting in West Virginia in 2017. The House could vote on this bill as soon as Thursday. The Senate is fast-tracking it too.

Please sign and share the petition at the right, if you believe that Senator Capito should meet with her constituents before casting such a perilous vote. (She has declined at least 7 invitations for Town Halls, just in the last 3 weeks.) We will present these signatures to her staff, in hopes of organizing a Town Hall before any vote.

You have promised that any replacement will be better for West Virginians -- but this one is not. Please listen to the families who will be sacrificed before casting your vote.
