Petition: Students of University of Adelaide call on PwC to #CutAllTies with the coal lobby

Tom Seymour, CEO - PwC Australia

Pricewaterhousecoopers [PwC] claim to be sustainability leaders - but while they’re a member of the Minerals Council, we can’t take them seriously.

Australia is on the frontline of the climate crisis, and our government urgently needs to take action to protect our communities by moving away from coal, oil and gas, to 100% renewable energy.

There is one crucial barrier to progress. The Minerals Council, an institution of fossil fuel lobbyists, have been blocking policy and influencing Australian politics for decades, undermining any chance at the safe climate future we deserve. If we can get their members to take a stand and leave the council, then we could have a huge impact on their power.

As students, our voices are powerful. Every year PwC spends millions of dollars trying to recruit the best and brightest to it’s firm. Together we can send them a message - that young people don’t want to work for a company that is funding the fossil fuel lobby and putting our future at risk.

As one of the largest global accounting firms, PwC, could display true leadership by leaving the Minerals Council for good, refusing to continue to fund this climate-wrecking lobby group.

Sign the petition and together we'll build up pressure on their board and leadership in the lead up to our day of action on August 18th.
