Add your name at right to our petition asking the California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) of the state Department of Conservation to require a 2500 ft. buffer between oil or gas operations and any sensitive site such as a home, school, park, or health clinic. CalGEM is engaged in "public health rulemaking," and public health is indeed at stake!

The public comment period closes on June 10, so please sign today, and share this petition with friends and neighbors. We'll deliver signatures and comments to CalGEM before the deadline.

350 Silicon Valley and 350 Bay Area Action will share only your name and city with CalGEM. We ask for your full address so that we can match you with your representatives when key issues need public input.

More than five million Californians live within a mile of an oil or gas well in our state. Asthma and cancers are prevalent in these vulnerable communities because of the pollution that contaminates the air and soil.

CalGEM’s public health rulemaking is our state’s opportunity to right these wrongs and put California on the path to a healthy, low-carbon future. I ask that you approve a 2500-ft. buffer between oil and gas operations and sensitive sites, especially where children are present.

Thank you for this opportunity to comment on a rulemaking that is of critical importance to our state!
