Petition to ACA Repeal Working Group to Include Women, and hold Public Hearings

Senators on the ACA Working Group: Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) Sen. John Thune (R-SD)... Se. John Barrasso (R-Wyo) Sen .Mike Lee (R-UT) Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo) Sen.

We are petitioning the 12 Republican, male U.S. Senators who comprise the “Working Group” responding to the House’s passage of TrumpCare 2.0.
We are petitioning for them to hold public hearings and include women senators in their group.  Because this group is working on behalf of the Republican caucus in the Senate, they should be responsive to comments from citizens everywhere, including those of us who are not their constituents.  This action should be completed during the week of May 8 as the group charts its path forward.

This action is important because the House jammed through a bill that had only been finished hours before the vote, did not receive a CBO score, and was not the subject of a single public hearing.  It is critical that these legislators hear from healthcare experts and patient advocates about the effect of legislating in an area that concerns 1/5 of the US economy and the lives of millions of Americans.

Thank you for helping us make sure that the Senate does its job.

We hace two immediate requests for the Senate Working Group considering how to improve access to, and lower the price of, healthcare. First, your group should schedule public hearings to allow for healthcare experts and patient representatives to advise you of the consequences of the bill you are contemplating. Second, your group should include at least three women senators given the serious consequences of any such legislation for the 51% of the population who are women.

Thank you for working to protect all Americans, particularly the most vulnerable.
