Tell Congress: Act Against Human Rights Abuses in the Philippines

Congress

In the Philippines, the Duterte administration continues to use violence and targeted killings to silence workers fighting to organize unions.

Life in the Philippines has gotten even worse during this pandemic with the government imposing an intense military crackdown. The Duterte government shut down the news network ABS-CBN, which has been critical of President Duterte and played a large role in exposing the plight of Filipino workers. This attack on press freedom leaves 11,000 workers unemployed.

These abuses must stop. Tell Congress to act now to end military aid to the Philippines.

The Philippine government should be providing healthcare, food and supplies to those who are suffering as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, not attacking its own people. Pass legislation to end military aid to the Philippines as long as the Duterte regime’s human rights abuses continue.
