Pleasanton for Community Choice Energy

Pleasanton City Council members

Pleasanton and Newark are the only 2 cities in Alameda County that did not join the county's Community Choice Energy program: East Bay Community Energy. We want our city council to act on climate and join EBCE.

EBCE paid back its startup loan to the county in 8 months, and has already approved new contracts all in CA for solar power, wind power (Altamont), and battery storage (Oakland) that will help EBCE continue the transition to clean energy. The window to join EBCE and start the service in 2021 will close at the end of September. We should not wait any longer and join EBCE for Climate Crisis is here, and the results of inaction are unthinkable.

By joining EBCE

  • Pleasanton City could go to carbon neutral on its municipal electricity use without extra cost
  • Pleasanton Citizens will have multiple choices on their power mixes
  • Pleasanton Citizens could go to carbon neutral without extra cost
  • Pleasanton will add more funding and stability for EBCE to develop local renewable sources and create green jobs

We ask Pleasanton City Council to vote yes to join EBCE.

Dear mayor and city council members,

We would like you to act on climate and join EBCE.
1) It will allow municipal electricity to be carbon neutral with no cost increase
2) EBCE will add multiple choices of power mixes for the residents to choose
3) With the same price we pay today our electricity could be carbon neutral
4) It will help further develop local renewable electricity sources

Without acting now we will be further behind to fight Climate Crisis. It is time for the city of Pleasanton to join EBCE and be a part of solution. Thank you for your service to the city and its citizens.
