Pledge to Emphasize Vaccinations and Require Masks Throughout the 2021 Fall Semester

NC State Administration

The NC State University administration has repeatedly shown itself to be disinterested in protecting the health and safety of its workers and our families, so we will take action to do so ourselves by emphasizing to our students the importance of getting vaccinated and by requiring masks in our classrooms and office hours throughout the fall semester, regardless of changes in the Administration's opinions on what is safe.

From: [Your Name]

As a member of the Wolfpack Community, I am committed to providing an environment of excellence where all members of the community feel welcome and included in the education and advancements that take place at NC State University. Following these principles, I believe that I need to take the necessary precautions to protect both myself and the students I am in charge of educating and training. I pledge to:

1) Use my platform as an instructor to emphasize to my students the importance and low level of risk of the COVID-19 vaccines and urge them to get vaccinated as soon as they can if they aren’t already
2) Require all individuals to wear face coverings in my classroom and office hours for the duration of the fall semester, even if the Administration once again weakens the university’s anti-COVID-19 policies

I acknowledge that these actions may violate University directives, but the health and safety of myself, my family, and the Wolfpack Community are more important than the ever-changing opinions of the Administration, which has repeatedly shown itself to prioritize profits over our lives. The only way to end the pandemic and protect each other from this deadly virus is by reaching high levels of vaccination and wearing masks until then, and I am willing to challenge the Administration’s disciplinary measures in pursuit of these goals.
