Like many essential workers during the last 16 months, Denver Health and UCHealth workers continued to show up and do the necessary work to heal and protect our communities, often at great risk to themselves and their families. Unlike many other essential workers, these healthcare heroes did not receive any hazard pay for this additional risk. Funds from the American Rescue Plan seek to remedy this by providing states and municipalities with the money to pay these workers for this risk and financial hardship.

We kept going when the world stopped. We were paid the same wages despite the circumstances. The ARP is acknowledging the services we provided and is providing the opportunity to pay us back for our sacrifices. Let’s not allow anything to stand in the way of frontline workers being compensated properly.
