Protect our waters and wildlife from waste
Governor Newsom and my State Legislator
Up to 19 billion pounds of plastic waste are dumped into the world’s oceans every year.
These plastics are polluting our oceans, threatening our health and climate, and harming and even killing sea otters, sea lions, sea turtles, whales, dolphins, seabirds, and other marine life.

Each year, Americans throw away millions of foam cups and take-out boxes. Too often, this pollution ends up in our oceans and rivers, where it can harm or even kill birds, fish and other wildlife.
Something we use for a few minutes shouldn't be allowed to pollute our environment for hundreds of years.
I'm writing in support of SB 54/AB 1080 by Senator Ben Allen and Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez — legislation that would reduce plastic pollution in our oceans, waterways, and communities and help protect marine life. These bills would phase out single-use food containers, packaging, and products that can't be recycled or composted by 2030.
Sincerely,
