Program Unit Funding (PUF) is early intervention funding for children with complex needs who are aged 2 years, 8 months to 6 years of age. It helps special needs children to succeed in school by preparing them in preschool and kindergarten. PUF is critical to the more than 11,000 students who receive it each year but is being reduced and is not keeping up with increased need. Children with speech delays, children with autism, and children with other neurological or complex disorders need to have the support of this government and we call upon the Legislative Assembly to urge the Government of Alberta to increase PUF overall so that each incoming child gets to access the supports to make them successful.
