Sign the Petition & Help Protect Our Public Lands

President Obama, Congress, and State Legislatures

America’s public lands are national treasures owned by all of us and held in trust for future generations. They include than 600 million acres of towering forests, rushing rivers, swaying grasslands, and magical deserts.

These national parks, forests and other wild lands are a haven for wildlife, a source for clean air and water, and a refuge for millions of people looking for solace, beauty, and rejuvenation.

Sadly these special places are now under attack – and we need your help to make sure these public lands stay in public hands.

In recent years there has been a concerted push to privatize and industrialize our public lands by selling them to the highest bidder to be logged, mined, drilled, fracked, bulldozed, and grazed.

These attacks are coming on multiple fronts: from the armed thugs who took over the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon in January to politicians in Washington, D.C. All them have the same goal in mind: to seize our public lands for private exploitation.

Throughout the West, state and federal lawmakers have introduced bills or have proposals in the works to gain control of vast amounts of our public lands. Some states, like Utah, are spending millions of taxpayer dollars to sue the federal government to steal these lands. Other states are studying the costs and benefits of taking control of our public lands. And some in Congress are considering handing over control of millions of acres of national forests to logging interests.

Don't take these special places for granted. The threat is real. Stand up and Protect Your Public Lands. Please sign the petition below and share it with your networks. Find out more at protectyourlands.org.

Dear Elected leaders,

I’m deeply concerned over recent attacks on America’s public lands and I’m counting on you to do everything you can to make sure these special places remain protected.
I was troubled by the armed takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Oregon earlier this year, and I am even more concerned with efforts by politicians, including in Congress, to hand over America’s public lands to private interests.

As you know, our government is entrusted with our beautiful and vast public lands for our benefit and they need to be preserved for posterity. These national parks, forests, refuges and other lands are havens for wildlife, sources for clean air and water, and recreational spaces for generations of Americans. It is now our responsibility to protect and manage these lands and their intrinsic values for future generations of Americans.

Please do everything possible to protect these lands that are so important to me, my family and our country.
