Qantas has been found by the Federal Court to have breached the Fair Work Act by sacking 2000 workers to prevent them exercising their rights to collective bargaining and industrial action.

Qantas is one of our best known and loved national icons. It needs protection from a dictatorship-style management that is pocketing billions in public subsidies, paying millions to executives and hurting our economy by sacking and stealing from workers.

We need the Federal Government to take an equity stake in Qantas to ensure that public money is spent in the right way, protecting our national airline, its workforce and the Australian community.

A year ago 50% of Australians supported nationalising Qantas. $2 billion of public funding later, the case has never been stronger. With no conditions attached to the funding, the airline has:

- Illegally sacked thousands of workers

- Pocketed workers' entitlements through its use of JobKeeper

- Refused terminally ill workers their accrued sick leave

- Forced a 2-year wage freeze on workers without consultation

- Downplayed the virus and suspended a health and safety representative for giving legitimate advice

- Allowed covid clusters to spread through its workforce

- Refused to commit to regional jobs
