Governor Andrew Cuomo and Independent Democratic Leader Sen. Jeff Klein

We’re finally close to passing a law in New York this week that would keep 16 and 17-year-olds out of the adult criminal justice system.

But Republicans in the state Senate are using “tough-on-crime” rhetoric to try and weaken the proposal. And the Independent Democratic Conference led by Senator Jeff Klein is giving Republicans the leverage they need to push their agenda.

Tell Governor Cuomo and Independent Democratic Leader Sen. Jeff Klein to back the state Assembly’s Raise the Age proposal, which includes addressing all nonviolent offenses in Family Court.
