Petition to Support 'Rights for Australian Gig Workers'
Federal Government
Australia’s gig economy is marred with rip offs, deadly pressure, cover ups, workplace injuries and even deaths.
Gig giants like Uber, Deliveroo and Amazon are exploiting Australia’s outdated industrial relations laws by deliberately placing well-over 100,000 Australian workers outside existing workplace protections.
As a result, gig workers are regularly:
- Paid well-below the Australian minimum wage,
- Denied sick leave and workers compensation when they are injured on the job.
- Sacked without unfair dismissal protections when they raise concerns about their treatment.
The results are devastating: in 2020, seven gig workers were killed while working – two of which were covered up.
Enough is enough. This system of gig exploitation has no place in a modern country like Australia which prides itself on supporting a fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work.
The Federal Government must act. Gig workers need our hopelessly outdated industrial laws improved through an independent body with the power to set and enforce standards – like minimum wages and safety – for all workers, regardless of their employment classification.
If we don’t act to end gig exploitation today, no Australian job is safe: insecure gig work has already moved beyond sectors like food delivery and rideshare into professions like aged care. We must end this insecure work crisis before it destroys the working conditions all Australians rely on to live safe and secure lives.
Sign the petition today to back gig economy workers in their fight for a fairer, safer future.

I sign this petition to call on the current Federal Government and any future Government to ensure that working Australians in the 'gig economy' are provided access to fair and safe workplace rights and conditions.
For too long, Gig Economy giants have used their silicon valley lie to deny working Australians the most basic work rights including access to a minimum wage, safety and other conditions which Australians have fought for and enjoyed for over a century.
This exploitation and the degradation of the Australian 'fair-go' must end. We need the Government to at last, take a stand against these billion-dollar corporations which are exploiting well over 100,000 Australians today.
The Federal Government must act now to provide an independent body which can provide these basic rights and protections to all gig economy workers.
