Tell Santa Clarita City Council to join the Community Choice Energy Program!

Santa Clarita City Council

Do you want to save money on your utility bill and save the planet at the same time? Welcome to Community Choice Energy.

Sign this petition today to tell the Santa Clarita City Council to enroll the city in Los Angeles Community Choice Energy!

Community Choice Aggregates (CCAs) allow cities to purchase and deliver renewable energy at lower rates than traditional investor-owned utilities. By allowing Santa Clarita businesses and homeowners to opt-in at 30%, 50%, or 100% renewable energy we can save Santa Clarita residents millions of dollars while fighting climate change.

This program is rolling out across Los Angeles County in 2018, joining cities and counties across the state who are already seeing the benefits of Community Choice Aggregates. To join the program and see the benefits that our neighbors in Castaic and Stevenson Ranch will be taking advantage of, Santa Clarita needs to sign the Joint Powers Agreement with Los Angeles County. This can be done by vote of the Santa Clarita City Council.

It's important to note that this is a Community Choice program, and nobody is forced to participate. If, for some reason, a ratepayer prefers the higher rates offered by SoCal Edision, they may opt-out of the program easily.

Honorable members of the Santa Clarita City Council,

We are writing to you as residents of the City of Santa Clarita. We are urging you to hold a vote on the issue of Community Choice Energy, and vote YES to join the Los Angeles Community Choice Energy program.

By signing the Joint Powers Agreement with the County, Santa Clarita stands to benefit from cheaper, renewable energy for businesses and home owners. If Santa Clarita waits until after the 2018 rollout of the LACCE program, ratepayers in the city may suffer from rate hikes as investor-owned utilities offset the cost of long-term energy contracts by increasing rates for non-CCE customers.

It is imperative for the residents of our city that Santa Clarita enroll in this program at the earliest opportunity.

Thank you.
