Save Free School Lunches: Stop The Plan to Take Lunch From 500,000 Kids
Sonny Perdue, Secretary of Agriculture
Kids across the country are back in school—but *half a million* of them could go hungry. The President has released a plan to take away SNAP (a.k.a. food stamps) from millions of hungry families, including free school lunches for 500,000 kids! Studies show that children need good nutrition to do well in school. As parents, we're fighting to save school lunches for our kids.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is one of the most effective programs at reducing poverty. The President’s changes to SNAP would take food away from 3 million people–including taking free school lunches away from 500,000 kids. "Consistent access to nutrition is linked to cognitive and physical development, test scores, long-term health, and education," said Lisa Davis, Sr. VP of the No Kid Hungry Campaign.
We urge the Department of Agriculture to protect hungry parents and kids by refusing any changes to SNAP benefits rules, and by continuing to fund school lunch programs.
