Save Salem Wildlife From Rodenticides

The State Legislature

Update: The Home Rule Petition passed at the City Council meeting on April 10th! This is a huge victory.

But the work is not over. Now we need our State Representative Manny Cruz and our State Senator Joan Lovely to support the approval of this home rule petition and/or to work to pass the pending state legislation to ban the use of SGARs state-wide - (Bill H965 An Act restricting the use of rodenticides in the environment)

Please contact them, urging them to do so here:

Raptors, foxes, coyotes, and other predators keep Massachusetts’ ecosystems in balance. But in recent years, shocking numbers of these iconic creatures have been sickened or killed after preying on rodents poisoned with second-generation anti-coagulant rodenticides (SGARs.) These poisons have even killed pets.

Not only do SGARs harm beautiful creatures, but they also ironically harm our efforts at pest control by killing off our most effective tool - the predators of rodents!
