Save West Bridgford Recycling Centre
Nottinghamshire County Council
Nottinghamshire County Council have decided on a plan which will close the West Bridgford Recycling Centre, and other smaller recycling centres in favour of newly built "super sites". It is the aim of the council that nobody should have more than a 20 minute drive from a "super site", there is no target for how long the queues will be when you get there though!
For most West Bridgford and many Rushcliffe residents the Recycling Centre at West Bridgford is closer to home, and is just a short drive away (sites don't currently take "walking waste"). There is often queuing at peak times, but many residents will remember this was effectively solved by a booking system, that the council paid to install over Covid. Any technology this paid for should still be in place. The council did not consider option in their reports recommending "super sites".
We believe that the West Bridgford Recycling Centre could be kept open and better managed. This could be done by reintroducing the booking system, rearranging the layout of the site, offering regular street collections of large recyclable (or reusable) items, glass, and cardboard, and by many other unexplored methods.
We call to keep the West Bridgford Recycling Centre and to properly explore all of the options available to keep it available for residents.

We want to keep the West Bridgford Recycling Centre open. We believe this would be possible using technology, improvement in other recycling services, and better management of the existing site.
