Say NO to a Fossil-Fueled Future for RI!

Rhode Island State Senators

source: UpriseRI.com

I am calling on each and every Rhode Island State Senator to vote against the appointments of Nicholas Ucci and Ronald Gerwatowski, two men who have had close ties with the fossil fuel industry, fighting tooth and nail to approve new fossil fuel infrastructure here in RI. Both appointees also have not expressed their position on the Percentage Income Payment Plan a critical subsidy program which would ensure that energy is accessible to the State's lowest income residents.

As our environment is being pushed to the breaking point, and low-income and communities of color face the worst burdens of fossil fuel infrastructure and climate change, we need state energy appointments who will usher in a new age of renewable energy and respect for the health and well being of Rhode Islanders, instead of men like Nicholas Ucci and Ronald Gerwatowski who have worked to keep building toxic fossil fuel infrastructure.

I'm asking every member of the RI Senate to vote against the appointments of Ronald Gerwatowski and Nicholas Ucci that were approved today. We must only be approving appointees that do not have close ties to the fossil fuel industry.

It's so important that we make sure that appointees to the PUC and Office of Energy Resources will work toward supporting a #GreenNewDeal, are against environmental racism and support good efforts like the Percentage Income Payment Plan (PIPP).
