Say NO to Bigger Trucks
United States Congress
We need to stop Capitol Hill lobbyists from making highways more dangerous for our families.
Special interests are pushing Congress to increase the national weight limit for tractor-trailers by over 11,000 pounds -- and letting longer-double-trailer trucks and triple-trailer trucks on the road.
They need to hear the facts: Most voters, professional truck drivers and law enforcement officers agree letting even bigger trucks on the highway is a bad idea. If the special interests get their way, these bigger, longer and more dangerous vehicles will cause more highway crashes, cost taxpayers billions of dollars in highway subsidies, and put our families at risk.
Trucking is vital to America's economy -- that's why CABT is proud to support truck drivers and the trucking industry. We only oppose efforts by a handful of corporations pushing for bigger, more dangerous tractor-trailers on our highways -- because these behemoths threaten both truck drivers and our families
Are we willing to compromise the safety of thousands of motorists every day just to haul more freight? Are we willing to spend billions to repair bridges damaged by bigger trucks? Who will pay the price for an 11 percent higher fatal crash rate for multi-trailer trucks? Who will pick up the tab when 91,000-pound trucks only repay about 50 percent of their highway damage?
Stand with law enforcement officers, EMTs, safety leaders, engineers, independent truck drivers and elected officials, and voice your opposition to bigger trucks on our nation’s highways.
