Say No to Bus Cuts

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, and Transport for London

Picture of one of the bus routes at risk

London is facing dramatic cuts to bus services, with up to 78 routes changed of which 21 routes would be cut completely. In total:

  • Nearly 1 in 20 bus kilometres will be cut.
  • Cuts to routes and night buses affect 23 boroughs
  • Around 80 new changes between buses involve a different stop: this will especially impact people with wheelchairs and buggies.

If these cuts go ahead, it will harm many Londoners who can least afford to lose these services. Many of us will find it harder to get to work, see family and friends, or get to essential services.

While the Conservative Government has been playing politics with London's finances, starving Transport for London of much-needed money, the Mayor's proposal to cut these services is not the answer.

Sign our petition now to call on the Mayor to work with central government and local councils to find alternatives to these cuts.

We are asking you and Transport for London to find a way not to cut our bus services in the way you have proposed.

So many of us rely upon frequent, direct and reliable bus services to get to work and essential services.

For people on low incomes, young people, older people, and those of us with families or who are disabled, the impact will be the most severe.

For all Londoners, your proposals will completely remove valuable bus routes, taking away vital direct links and replacing them with changes between multiple buses - in many cases smaller buses with less space and which will take extra time we can't afford to lose.

These cuts will make it so much harder for many people to get around, and must not happen.

We are calling on you to work with Transport for London to work with central government and local councils to find alternatives to these cuts.
