As you know, the Red Cross has informed us of their plan to resume use of the Self Contained Units (SCUs) in August. Please sign this petition so we can send a clear message to the region that this is a threat to our health and safety.

In the National Addendum, it states that “The Employer and the Coalition agree that the safety of employees and the general public is of utmost importance. Therefore, the Employer shall provide a safe work environment that is free of recognized hazards that could cause death, injury or illness.” Resuming the operation of the Self Contained Units (SCUs) is a clear violation of this language. There is no way to socially distance on the SCU’s, which is why their operation was suspended in the first place. As cases are once again rising around the country, rushing to resume operation of the SCU’s is dangerous, and puts our health and safety at risk.
Therefore, we, the undersigned, demand that the Penn Jersey Region continue to suspend the use of SCUs until the Union and the region agree that it is safe to resume their operation.
