Senate, #DoYourJob. Pass the HEROES Act, WITHOUT the last page!

United States Senate

Dear Senators,

Across the country coronavirus cases are surging, unemployment figures are rising, and essential workers are continuing to put their lives at risk to provide care and support to those who need it most. We need the HEROES Act— a crucial federal relief package that has passed the House, but is currently being stalled by you and your colleagues in the Senate— while people across the nation suffer.

The HEROES Act provides essential health and economic benefits to those who are hardest hit by the pandemic, including Black, Latinx, and immigrant workers, many of whom are domestic and care workers on the front lines.

During this public health crisis we must ensure access to affordable healthcare and protect Medicaid.

The last page of the HEROES Act includes a special carve-out to the “Maintenance of Effort (MOE) clause” that could allow State governors to cut Medicaid funding to address budget shortfalls. To protect Medicaid, this page must be removed before the bill is passed.
