#NoThanks on Senate tax plan that cuts health care for 50,000 Mainers

Senator Susan Collins

Under the Senate tax proposal, 50,000 Mainers are at risk of losing health coverage and will see their premiums go up by as much as $3,000 per year; all to pay for massive tax breaks for the wealthiest 1%, Wall Street corporations, and foreign investors.

You can stop this bad deal for Mainers in its tracks. Sign the petition and spread the word and tell Senator Collins: #NoThanks.

Dear Senator Susan Collins,

The "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act", as recently passed by the Senate Finance Committee, will cause 50,000 Mainers to lose health coverage and increase their premiums by as much as $3,000 in counties like Washington.

The last minute addition of a repeal of the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) "individual mandate" lacks public input and transparency, and is far from the bipartisan solution you have promised to pursue on behalf of Maine people.

Not only will the bill threaten access to affordable health care for thousands of Mainers, the bill will also drive up the deficit, trigger cuts to Medicaid and other social safety net programs, and give multinational corporations incentives to shift profits and jobs overseas.

This is a bad bill and a bad deal for Mainers. We ask that you vote no on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and pursue a bipartisan solution that does not dismantle the ACA and vital safety net programs.

Sincerely,
