Show your support for workers developing Broadway's future hits!
The Broadway League
Actors' Equity Association's Development Agreement plays a key role in the creation of new Broadway shows - it's the contract used to bring actors and stage managers together in a room with the creatives to try things out and see what works. The five-year contract was created in 2019 following Equity's first strike in half a century.
The union has been in negotiations with The Broadway League since January 22, and the contract expired on Sunday, February 11, 2024. After seven meetings across the bargaining table, these employers have made it clear that they are not interested in updates to the 2019 agreement beyond those that enable them to demand more from Equity members in less time and for less money.
The world - and the needs of Equity members - has changed significantly since 2019, and the Development Agreement has to change to meet the needs of 2024 and beyond.
Equity's National Council has authorized a strike if necessary. We hope it won't come to that, and that's why your support is critical.
Tell The Broadway League that you support the workers developing the next Broadway hits! Your support will remind the producers that the Broadway community supports fair wages and worker protections for actors and stage managers before the show premieres on a Broadway stage.
