As Hurricane Harvey floods Texas, hundreds of thousands of people are stranded and at risk of injury or death - without knowing when they’ll receive emergency assistance.

It shouldn’t matter whether hurricane (or any other disaster) victims live in a blue state or a red state. Everyone deserves emergency assistance.

Politics should have no influence here, but unfortunately, that’s not the case.

Republicans have opposed hurricane relief before for Sandy victims - turning stranded and suffering people into a political tool. Our elected officials must stop playing partisan games and ensure that everyone deserves emergency assistance, no matter where they live.
