The COVID-19 pandemic has killed more than 120,000 Americans, with over 40,000 of them seniors.

But new reporting shows that instead of protecting seniors, the Commissioner of the Social Security Administration joined GOP Senators Richard Burr and Kelly Loeffler by making a series of investment decisions to personally profit off of the pandemic.

Trump’s long-time friend Andrew Saul was appointed as the Social Security Administration Commissioner based on his credentials of being openly hostile toward the program.

Now, new investigative reporting shows that Saul is using his role as SSA Commissioner and his close relationship to Trump to profit off of the pandemic.

Between January 15 and March 16, Saul purchased health care-related stocks, including with companies that manufacture COVID-19 test kits and PPEs, just as the pandemic was setting in. And, just a couple of weeks later, Trump himself promoted these test kits in a Rose Garden address on March 30.

It’s outrageous that any public official, especially one whose agency represents the interests of COVID’s worst victims, would profit off of the deaths of Americans.
