In January, the Governor and Senate Republicans announced their latest target in a long line of attacks: our Area Education Agencies (AEAs).

With HSB542, Republicans are proposing substantial cuts to funding, replacing the independent boards that oversee the AEAs, and hiring a new director who has never taught in a classroom before.

The AEAs provide integral support for professional learning, special education, and essential services for students, parents, and educators. They serve schools and communities large and small, urband, suburban and rural. Iowa NEEDS Area Education Agencies.
