Extreme weather events and hazardous impacts related to climate change are devastating Massachusetts communities and Massachusetts taxpayers are paying the bill. Join us to make sure those responsible pay for the costs of climate change.

The Make Polluters Pay Bill - H.1014/S.588, “An Act establishing a climate change superfund” - is a bill in the MA legislature introduced by Sen. Jamie Eldridge, Rep. Steve Owens, and Rep. Jack Lewis, that requires the worst carbon emitters to contribute to a Superfund to pay for climate-related damages in Massachusetts. Fossil fuel companies have knowingly endangered our world for decades, putting our lives and livelihoods at risk – they should be responsible for the damages. The Climate Change Superfund will provide funding for projects across the Commonwealth that keep our communities safe from the impacts of climate change.

We, the undersigned, urge you to pass Warrant Article #25, a resolution in support of HD. 3369/SD.1674.

H.1014/S.588 (formerly HD. 3369/SD.1674), “An Act establishing a climate change superfund” (shorthand: “Make Polluters Pay” or “Climate Superfund”) is a bill in the MA legislature introduced by Sen. Jamie Eldridge, Rep. Steve Owens, and Rep. Jack Lewis, that requires the worst carbon emitters to contribute to a Superfund to pay for climate-related damages in Massachusetts. Massachusetts currently has no plan to fund climate adaptation efforts at scale and keep our communities safe from fires, floods, extreme heat, poor air quality, and more. We must Make Polluters Pay.
