UPDATE (04/09/18): The FBI raided Michael Cohen's office today, but Trump himself is not currently under investigation.
Two weeks before the 2016 election, lawyer Michael Cohen arranged to pay Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about her affair with Trump. Cohen says he paid out of his own pocket, and was not reimbursed by the campaign.
If true, the Trump campaign can be in serious trouble with the Federal Elections Commission for an illegal, in-kind contribution. Not only can the FEC levy fines, but they can refer criminal matters to the Justice Department for prosecution.
Moreover, Daniels has made credible claims of threats by Cohen of physical intimidation - which would also be a criminal matter.
Michael Cohen was not just Donald Trump's personal lawyer. He has a long history working for the Trump Organization, and such a cover-up is likely to implicate Trump in the end.
Sign the petition to FEC: Investigate Trump campaign on the payment to Stormy Daniels, and refer criminal findings to the Justice Department & special counsel Bob Mueller.
