Sign the petition: Revoke the NRA’s tax-exempt status

The IRS and Congress

The National Rifle Association (NRA) has long been hemorrhaging money. And now, it’s  been revealed that their financial deals have largely been a gross misuse of their tax-exempt status.

An explosive investigative report reveals the intricate way in which hundreds of millions of dollars have allegedly been siphoned off to top executives and vendors at the NRA. The report paints a picture of individual greed, and a potentially fraudulent nonprofit teetering on the edge of collapse.

The crux of the financial issues for the NRA is its problematic relationship with the public relations outfit Ackerman McQueen, which pays out million-dollar salaries to people such as former NRA president Oliver North and spokesperson Dana Loesch.

Some of the NRA's payments that may constitute a conflict of interest pass through financial channels that intentionally obscure the recipients. Law experts say this alone could threaten the NRA’s tax-exempt nonprofit status.

Let us not forget the NRA is also under investigation into whether Russian agents funneled money to the organization that then was used in the 2016 election cycle, during which the NRA spent some $50 million backing Donald Trump and six Senate candidates (five of whom won) -- in other words, whether the NRA worked with Russians to influence American elections.

The NRA’s sordid dealings have violated the federal laws governing charitable organizations. Sign the petition to demand the NRA’s tax-exempt status be revoked.

We demand you revoke the NRA’s tax-exempt status. The NRA’s dirty-dealings with private vendors have disqualified their nonprofit status -- they broke the rules and now their tax-exempt status must end.
