Sign the petition: Teachers who walk out are not criminals

Governors and state legislatures

Across the country, public school teachers are walking out to demand living wages and more resources for their underfunded classrooms.

They have achieved real victories in West Virginia & Oklahoma, and are planning walkouts in Arizona & Colorado. And the public is very much on their side.

So now two Republican state senators in Colorado want to make criminals out of these teachers. SB 18-264 would prohibit teacher strikes by allowing school districts to get a court injunction.

Teachers who walk out would then be in contempt of court, and the schools could fire them on the spot. Being in "contempt of court" could also result in fines—and a possible jail sentence.

Sign the petition: Teachers who demand reasonable pay are not criminals. Reject Colorado's SB 18-264 and other such measures to punish them for walking out.
