Sign the petition to Congress: Pass a War Powers Resolution to end US involvement in the war in Yemen

Congress

In February of 2021, President Biden pledged to end US involvement in the Saudi-UAE-led coalition’s war in Yemen. One year later, the US has approved billions of dollars in weaponry and military contracts to Saudi Arabia and the UAE and continues to provide logistical support, maintenance, and spare parts to the Royal Saudi Airforce, the backbone of the coalition’s offensive military campaign. Recently, the US has put troops into harm's way by deploying the USS Cole and fighter jets to aid the UAE, making them a target for cross-border attacks.

After 7 years of war hundreds of thousands of Yemeni civilians have died, 2 million children are suffering from acute malnutrition, a blockade is preventing food, fuel, aid and medical supplies from reaching the Yemeni people, more airstrikes bombard civilian infrastructure, and the Biden administration continues to drag its feet to fulfill the campaign promise President Biden made: end US involvement in the war in Yemen.

It’s time for Congress to act. Congress can pass a War Powers Resolution to unilaterally end US involvement in the war in Yemen. House Reps Jayapal and DeFazio have already proposed such a plan. Now we need to rally to pressure Democrats in Congress to stand together and pass a War Powers Resolution to end US involvement in the war in Yemen, stop the blockade, save lives, and pull millions of Yemeni back from the brink of starvation.
