In Florida, no matter our race or our gender or where we come from, most of us believe that if you work hard, play by the rules, and lose your job through no fault of your own, you shouldn't have to worry about losing your home or feeding your family. Florida's unemployment insurance system, one of the stingiest in the nation in terms of benefits and eligibility, failed millions of Floridians who lost their jobs during the coronavirus pandemic. Florida has not updated unemployment benefit amounts in more than 23 years, despite the cost of living, social security, and minimum wage all increasing during that time.

While we didn't achieve everything we needed to achieve this legislative session, there were real unemployment reform advocates who pushed hard to increase benefits and to fix our broken system.

One of the strongest advocates for fixing Florida's broken unemployment system so it would work for hurting Floridians was Senator Jason Pizzo, from the 38th district. Send Senator Pizzo a Thank You card for all of his hard work, fighting for much needed reform.

Thank you for standing up for Floridians who were caught up in Florida's broken unemployment insurance system. We didn't ask to be unemployed and when we needed benefits desperately, it was often your office that helped us navigate the broken DEO website and advocated for us to receive our benefits so we could stay in our homes and keep food on the table.

And then, when it came time to reform this broken system, you were one of the strongest voices for updating and modernizing Florida's unemployment system.

Thank you, Senator Pizzo, for being our Unemployment Reform Champion!
